Dogs in Distress
Many people do not realise that leaving pets in cars and caravans can be a risk to the animal's health and welfare. It is difficult to predict weather changes and the car or caravan may become very hot. Inadequate air and lack of cool water can also distress the animal. If you see a pet left in these circumstances and are concerned please call the local police or the dog warden service immediately.

The Dog Warden Service

  • Patrols the area and restricted beaches in the summer
  • Advises dog owners and the public about stray dogs, fouling and general problems
  • Picks up stray dogs and returns them to the owner if they have a collar and address tag or are micro-chipped.
  • Impounds dogs which stray or wander
  • Issues warnings and prosecutes offenders
